Launching Indiegogo Crowdfunding Campaign
April 20, 2015

foster youth San Diego

April 10, 2015

There is so much happening at Forever Homes for Foster Kids so let's not waste a minute.

We have had many successes in the first quarter of 2015. We closed foster children cases for Texas Department of Family and Protective Services in:

  • Fort Worth, Texas

  • Arlington, Texas

  • Dallas County, Texas

  • Potter County, Texas

We completed work on several cases for National Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Association in Austin, Texas as well as cases for:

  • McDowell County, North Carolina

  • Stokes County, North Carolina

  • Seneca Family of Agencies in California

Our success does come at a cost. It takes contributions from individuals and corporations to underwrite our work which is why we are launching a new Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign on April 20, 2015. In case you aren't familiar with the term "crowdfunding," a Forbes article described crowdfunding as:

"The practice of funding a project or venture by raising many small amounts of money from a large number of people, typically via the Internet."

Fortunately, our organization has attracted the attention and support of many leading business experts who are again contributing programs and consultations as perks for people who want to donate to our work. Here are some of the professionals and artists who will be part of our April 2015 crowdfunding.

Robert Aragon

foster children California We are very excited that Robert Aragon is a contributor to our Indiegogo foster youth campaign. Robert is one of the leading fine art portrait artists in the world. His work is exhibited internationally and is represented and protected by the very prestigious Bridgeman Art Library. He is also the creator and artist behind "A Tiny Teddy Named Cuds."

One of Robert's perks is an original first printing of "A Tiny Teddy Named Cuds", two 8 x 10 lithographs and an original Sketch of the character by and signed by Robert. His perk is ORIGINAL artwork so fulfillment will be based on his schedule. This is definitely something for the discerning collector or Teddy Bear enthusiast.

There are three (3) of these packages at US$265. Shipping within the continental U.S. is included.

Colin Martin

abused foster children If you don't know Colin Martin, you are missing out. He has awesome programs that are focused on one key area of business and taking it from "blah" to "Wow!" Colin has been one of my mentors so I am very excited to have his support of our crowdfunding campaign. Colin is contributing not one, but two items.

One is a 30-Minute Consultation. Absolutely worth the cost to get this perk. He is also offering his signature Stealth Persuasion Workshop.

We are very excited to have Colin on board and you will be, too.

Roberto Candelaria

foster children california Roberto Candelaria is again helping to support efforts to move foster children out of foster care and into forever homes with caring family members. He has been giving his time and expertise as we put the finishing touches on our Indiegogo campaign, Forever Homes for foster Children.

Today he graciously offered a PDF edition of his book "Relationships Raise Money: A Guide to Corporate Sponsorship" as one of our perks. His book "reveals how individuals, entrepreneurs, and non-profits can fund their dreams by getting sponsored. You've waited long enough to learn the secrets to securing corporate sponsorship."

Every non-profit and business looking to secure corporate sponsorship should have this as one of their top five books. Get your copy on April 20 during our crowdfunding launch.

Arvee Robinson

foster children californiaIf you ever wanted to meet someone with a smile that does light up a room and a personality to match, then Arvee is your woman. I've known Arvee for years ever since I met her at a marketing conference in southern California. She has also been a giving soul and proved it again when she quickly agreed to support efforts to help foster youth.

Arvee wrote, "I am excited to be a part of this breakthrough event. Thank you for the opportunity."

If you have wanted to dazzle an audience with your speech, then Arvee has the perk for you. Many speakers can say words, but there is an art to giving a talk that moves and motivates people. Soon you'll be able to get your questions answered about how to become a better speaker.

Businesses are run by people, and those people care about others. Make no mistake about that. Arvee and all of the wonderful contributors are proof-positive that successful business owners are giving people. We're happy to have Arvee on board.

Patrick Block

foster kids californiaOMG!!! If you love Disney (and who doesn't), then do we have a perk for you. Patrick Block is one of the premier artists for Disney having drawn Donald Duck and company for more than 22 years. With his wife, Shelley, they have produced hundreds of projects featuring Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge, and occasionally Mickey.

Their stories and covers have seen print by Gladstone and Gemstone Publishing, Egmont and Walt Disney Italia in Europe, and currently in the BOOM! Studio line of kid’s comics.

When Patrick heard about our work to keep families together by finding relatives of foster children, he made an original color drawing of Donald Duck (not shown) in one of those situations he always gets into.

This is an original artwork so if you are a fan of Donald Duck or have a child who is, this is the perk for you. There is only one perk so be ready to grab it as soon as we launch on April 20.

More contributors are stepping forward every day so be sure to come back so you can get a sneak preview of our campaign and plan out which perk you'll get. If you have ever thought of helping a foster child, this is the easiest way to do so while getting something for you, your family or your business.

More Foster Children Helped During Busy February

Feb. 25, 2015

There is so much happening at Forever Homes for Foster Kids that we are running behind on updating this page. However, that means that many more cases are being handled and completed leading to many more foster kids being placed with a family member or moving toward adoption.

We hit a new milestone in that we closed out our first case that involved searching for a relative in Guatemala. We can't say more until we hear back from the agency, but initial word back is that they were very pleased with our findings and the case can now move forward.

We look forward to sharing more details in March.

Jan 25, 2015

(You are in the right place if you read about us in Teddy Bear Times.)

Did you miss our Indiegogo foster children fundraiser? Did you see a perk (something you get for contributing a certain amount) you really wanted? You are not alone. Many people (maybe you) have asked how they can help a foster child. Fortunately, there are many ways for you to do so AND you can still get a few of the perks that we have left.

There are many more ways that you can help a foster child. No matter how you decide to help, as Nike says, "Just do it."

News for Teddy Bear Lovers and More

foster children California

Jan 23, 2015

You probably know that teddy bears are loved by people around the world. Some foster child organizations in the U.S. have events specifically to collect teddy bears that are given to foster children, but did you know that there is a Teddy Bear magazine? There is, and it's called Teddy Bear Times.

The magazine is a publication out of the U.K., but it has subscribers in the U.S. and many countries around the world. We contacted the magazine because even though our foster children campaign ended on Dec. 24, 2014, Robert Aragon gifted our organization with a special perk around his creation, "A Tiny Teddy Named Cuds." The editor, Jill Mundy, was quite enthusiastic when we told her about Robert's perk, and she offered to include information about Robert, Cuds and our foster youth organization.

The magazine edition came out about Jan. 19 and it is awesome. I don't know what I expected from a teddy bear magazine, but I can say I was blown away by the quality of this magazine. It is full of teddy bears and ideas of how to collect them and even how to restore an old teddy. If you have any interest in teddy bears, then Teddy Bear Times is absolutely a must-read magazine.

Robert has gifted us with three "A Tiny Teddy Named Cuds" packages to help more foster children have a real, forever home. If you are a Teddy Bear Times reader or teddy bear aficionado, then you will want to add Robert's work to your collection.

But keep in mind, that because of this unique offering, there are only three of these packages. Robert says that the artwork you get will be unique. Robert does not anticipate offering his artwork in this manner again to the public. So don't delay!

Bullying: The Hidden Harassment of Foster Children

foster children California

Jan 18, 2015

Foster children are creative, adaptive and smart kids. They want to be happy, have friends and do well in school. A recent survey revealed that 83% of foster youth want to go to college. Yet many of these kids have a very difficult experience in school. It's not just that many kids don't get enough to eat at their foster home. It's not that there isn't a caring adult to help them with their homework or even care if homework ever gets done. And it's not even the fact that many foster kids are moved as much as 45 times from one foster home to another although this is a major contributor to foster children being held back and having to repeat grades.

No, a very serious problem for foster kids is the bullying they endure at school.

Thousands of foster kids are verbal attacked while many others are physically beaten by their peers. Worse, our research has uncovered that often, a teacher or school administrator is responsible for instigating the bullying these kids endure at school. Read more about how bullying is adding to the enormous stress that many foster youth experience when at school, one of the few places where a child should feel safe.

Spider-Man Swings into Foster Children Campaign

foster children California

Dec. 6, 2014

OK. I'll confess. I love Spider-Man. This was the first comic that got me hooked on Marvel. I even got to finally meet the man himself, Spider-Man creator, Stan Lee. So when graphic artist Victor Olazaba wanted to help foster children, I couldn't believe gave us this artwork. And even though I've thought of "misplacing" it, I know that a foster child will be helped when this gets a new home.

Victor has solidified his status as one of the comic book industry’s premier inkers. His credits include Spawn, Spider-Man, and work over nearly every major Marvel character.

This Olazaba artwork is a 6.6 x 10.1 inch black and white original upper body sketch of Spider-Man along with Victor's signature. If you're an avid Spider-Man fan, then this needs to be part of your collection.

There is only one (1) artwork at US$85. Shipping within the continental U.S. is included.

For an expedited service (FedEx, UPS) or international shipping, place your order and then contact us at info@FindFamiliesInMexico.org. We'll work with you to determine the additional cost.

Crowdfunding Expert Helps Our Campaign

October 20, 2014 - Roberto Candelaria Advice

foster children california It's Monday, and things just went into high gear with the help of crowdfunding expert, Roberto Candelaria. He is one of the foremost gurus on crowdfunding, and he has generously given his time to help us set up for our launch on Nov. 10. Roberto definitely has a place in his heart for helping foster children to get out of foster care and into forever homes with caring relatives.

Roberto is very successful and has worked with companies of all sizes. He has handle "brands within the Fortune 100. Brands such as BMW, DELL, Disney, Hilton, State Farm, Wells Fargo, and Zappos."

We're very excited to have Roberto guiding us so that when we launch our foster children campaign on Nov. 10, everything will be ready to go. If you have ever thought about using crowdfunding as a funding mechanism for your existing or future business, Roberto and his crowdfunding program are what you need to make your campaign a success.

Tom Antion, Internet Guru, Supporting Foster Kids

October 9, 2014

foster children californiaForever Homes for Foster Kids plans to launch a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo beginning on Nov. 10. The event got an enormous boost from Tom Antion. Tom is a true Internet millionaire. He started almost 30 years ago doing business on the Internet when most people had no idea there was anything called the World Wide Web. Tom has been a pioneer in online marketing. Now at a point in his life where he spends his time as he would like, Tom has been a champion of social causes. I am also very proud to count Tom as one of my mentors.

Having Tom as one of our contributors is the equivalent of having Warren Buffett teaching you about finance. Tom has been advising our organization on ways to launch a successful campaign. He continues to give his time and advice. We simply cannot say enough about Tom and his willingness to help foster children. He is also an example of the power of businesses to help a cause or community.

Tom is offering coaching sessions made all the more generously because under normal circumstances, the public cannot have this access to his expertise. This rare opportunity should not be missed by any business owner or entrepreneur who wants to make 2015 their best year ever. This may sound like hyperbole, but Tom has proven his expertise time and again with many of today's marketers owing their success to Tom and his many companies that support businesses.

Publicity Expert Helping Foster Youth

October 7, 2014 - Jill Lublin

abused foster children Publicity is vital to any organization. If people don't know about you, it's hard if not impossible to get the much needed support to sustain a cause or mission. Enter Jill Lublin - international speaker and author of 3 bestselling books including Get Noticed...Get Referrals by McGraw Hill as well as being co-author of Guerrilla Publicity, THE fundamental PR bible, and Networking Magic.

Jill knows how to get publicity having been featured in The New York Times, Entrepreneur Magazine as well as on ABC, NBC, and CBS radio. She has helped our organization with our publicity needs which is why we asked her to contribute to our crowdfunding event.

Of course, she agreed (don't tell her that we knew she would) and is contributing one of her programs to help more foster kids to get out of the foster care system. If you want to get more publicity and exposure (and who doesn't), then this may be the perk for you.

Crowdfunding Now on Track

Sept 26, 2014 - Eric Lofholm Helps Again

foster teenagers california They say that the best way to get something done is to just jump in with both feet. So we're at a meeting today hosted by Eric Lofholm, a Master Sales Trainer who has taught his proven sales systems to thousands of professionals around the world.

Since January 2013 when our organization decided to offer our foster children services pro bono to foster care agencies, Eric was there to contribute. He has been a consistent supporter of our foster youth work that has allowed us to take on several cases we may not have been able to take on without his vital contributions.

Eric is offering one of his signature programs that will help anyone who wants to improve their sales. This includes people who may have a resistance to selling. Truth is that we all sell, but many people have such a negative attitude toward sales. If this sounds like you, then this is the perk for you, and Eric has put it at a special cost.

We are very proud to have Eric as one of our strongest supporters. We look forward to handling more foster children cases because of his assistance.

Crowdfunding Idea Gets Started

Sept 25, 2014 - Gia Heller Starts the Ball Rolling

foster kids california I'm talking with Gia Heller, social media marketing guru, and she's telling me how much she appreciates our work. That same day our organization decided to launch a crowdfunding campaign. So I asked Gia if she would like to contribute a perk for our campaign. She doesn't miss a beat and immediately offers 30-minute personal coaching calls with her.

If you want to get your Facebook posts working for you at warp speed, then you will want this perk.

I also have to share something about Gia. Talk about having a huge heart, Gia just adopted a 17-year-old girl who has been friends with Gia's daughter for years. Gia was already poised to take this important step, but she shared that she was moved to take action in part because of all the information she had been reading on our foster care blog and foster children social media posts.

It became more evident week after week that if Gia's daughter's friend aged out of foster care, she had a 50% chance of being pregnant by her 19th birthday. This girl also was at risk of being raped or a victim of sex trafficking.

When you join our crowdfunding campaign on Nov. 10, you will also be helping to protect dozens of female foster youth from a similar fate. Fortunately, there is one less girl at risk because of Gia. We are honored to have her as a contributor.

Another Success Foster Child Case Closed

July 3, 2014

We just closed a case for CASA of Travis County, If you've never heard of this organization, CASA volunteers - Court Appointed Special Advocates - speak up for the best interests of abused and neglected children in courts and communities. These dedicated, caring adults are there to make sure a foster child's voice is heard. It's very easy for adults to ignore the feelings of a child or to respect their family's religion or culture.

We again succeeded in locating the relatives of a child in U.S. foster care. And as happens often, when the case worker was speaking with family members in Mexico, two relatives who live in the U.S. were visiting that week and were available to talk with the case worker. So now the foster child is in the process of being placed in a forever home in the U.S.

CASA of Travis County Brings Foster Child Case
to Forever Homes for Foster Kids

April 13, 2014

CASA volunteers, Court Appointed Special Advocates, is a national organization that speaks up for the best interests of abused and neglected children in courts and communities. Although CASA is the eyes and ears of the court, they usually do not get involved in locating relatives of a foster child. However, CASA of Travis County felt that there were cases where the local CPS (Child Protective Services) office had hit a wall and was not able to locate foster children's relatives who were living in Mexico.

We look forward to partnering with CASA of Travis County so that more foster kids in Texas can be reconnected with their family members. Doing so will open the way for these children to move out of foster care, almost always with U.S. relatives who are located because of our work in Mexico.

Another foster child reconnected with family

January 2014

We are always handling foster child cases. However, once in a while there is a specially challenging case. This case involved a foster child whose relatives lived in a remote part of Mexico with no telephone, no Internet and no cell phone reception. Read more.

StyleLaughter Performing at March Fundraiser

March 25, 2013

foster children

We are very excited to have StyleLaughter at a private birthday party where guests are being asked instead of bringing a gift to donate to Forever Homes for Foster Kids to support our work to move children out of foster care. The party is Mar 30 and StyleLaughter will be helping us reach our goal of $1,000.

StyleLaughter is an improvisation comedy troupe that performs shows at no cost to raise money for various non-profit groups in Orange County, California. Amigos At Work Throwing March Fundraiser
for Foster Children

March 16, 2013

foster teens

Sheri Long, President of Amigos At Work, is doing her part to help more children get out of foster care in a very heart touching manner. Her birthday is March 30, but instead of looking forward to gifts for herself, Sheri is asking her guests to donate to Forever Homes for Foster Kids.

Sheri has also tapped the talented people at StyleLaughter to perform at her party. StyleLaughter is a non-profit organization headed by Robin McNatt. They bring comedians and performers together to put on shows with 100% of the donations going to a particular cause.

Amigos At Work specializes in communication training with multi-cultural staff. Sheri has worked with small companies as well as multi-national corporations such as Sam's Club, Plantronics and Kaiser in both the U.S. and Mexico. She trains management and staff so they have improved communication leading to increased production and profits.

StyleLaughter performs at venues to raise donations for other non-profits and charities. You can learn more at www.StyleLaughter.com.

Donation Campaign Up and Running

February 1, 2013

After several weeks, Forever Homes for Foster Kids has launched its fundraising campaign. We presently have several cases of children in foster care who need us to locate their family members. We now need donors to step up and support the work so these children can move out of foster care. Because we are now under the non-profit status of the Media Arts Center San Diego, all donations are now tax deductible.

Know how far a dollar can go? Kern County launched the California Permanency for Youth Project. Their 2008 report stated:

"Over $200,000 a month could be saved if only 37 youth were placed, resulting in millions in annual savings. The calculations provide solid cost justification for permanency programs, aside from the immeasurable benefits that come from providing youth with homes."

With family courts being reduced or closed, it's harder than ever for children without connections to their families to move out of foster care. We are looking for people to step up and give to help tomorrow's leaders have a better childhood today.

Forever Homes for Foster Kids Has a Fiscal Sponsor

December 14, 2012

foster kids

Forever Homes for Foster Kids is under the non-profit status of the Media Arts Center San Diego. This sets the foundation so we can (finally) start to receive donations to support our work to locate family members of children in U.S. foster care. This activity, called family finding, is a vital first step to moving children out of foster care and into a permanent home.

With social services' budgets being slashed across the country, less money is available to support quality efforts to locate relatives that are living in Mexico. We will be raising donations so we can self-fund our work.

All donations are now tax deductible because we now have a fiscal sponsor.
